CHAPTER 5

Jungkook got closer to the bed and sat on it, right near the edge and spoke with so much enthusiasm while looking around the room. "Earlier today, I was talking to the family doctor and guess what? Before he called, I was impatiently waiting to hear from him and it definitely wasn't because I was hoping he'd say you'd get better. Well, here's some good news, according to me. There's no hope for you and that simply means you're never going to be the same as before or even improve. The doctor has tried everything but it's no use."

Jungkook looked at the wall and spoke with wide eyes and a sinister smile. "This is very bad news and I should be feeling bad for you but I'm not. Why would I even do that after everything you did? Since there's nothing that anyone can do for you to get better, you're as good as dead."

"So I was thinking, how about I help you leave this world? You were on your way out anyway. All these machines are not doing anything for you!" He used a pillow to cause suffocation and it worked.

When he put the pillow away, he looked at the bed while moving back to leave the room and had no regrets about what he had just done. "Goodbye.."

After leaving the bedroom, he came downstairs to pour himself a drink and sat down right at the mini bar section of the mansion. He rested his elbows on the counter as he took a sip from his drink and felt like he was celebrating his freedom. Knowing that the person he hated the most was no longer alive brought him some peace. He was out of his mind for doing what he did but he didn't care because he was capable of anything.

He continued drinking and waited a few hours before calling the doctor to inform him that when he got home, there was nothing he could do to save his father because it was too late.

It was evening and you were trying to get some sleep but kept tossing and turning in your bed because you were thinking about Jungkook and you were unable to think about anyone or anything else. His sudden mood from angry to calm had such an effect on you that you were conflicted.

Why am I feeling this way? What am I even feeling? Did his actions in the office affect me that much? I hate myself for thinking about it.

Jungkook was the only one you had ever been intimate with and feeling his hands on you again brought back many memories. Some of them were crazy and sensual ones but some were just traumatic because of how aggressive he was at times. Taehyung had tried to get you to be intimate with him a few times but it never worked because you were not ready to give yourself to someone else. The traumatic effect of Jungkook's aggressiveness made you fear intimacy.

The next day at work, the vibe was different and everyone wasn't talking much. Mr Choi called everyone and spoke about the death of the CEO.

You felt bad for Jungkook but that was until Mr Choi said something that worried you.

"After all this is over, his son, Jeon Jungkook, will be the new CEO so please be ready for that."

Your heart started racing with fear and you almost dropped the file in your hands.

Everyone walked in different directions but you couldn't move. Jungkook will be the CEO? What if he starts coming everyday? I can't handle being around him.

It was the weekend and you and Taehyung had gone out on a date then he brought you to his place. You were in his bedroom and sat in his lap. He couldn't stop touching your shoulders and licked his lips a few times. "Did you enjoy yourself today?" He looked at you with so much desire.

You wrapped your arms around his neck and smiled as you nodded. "Yes, I did."

He rubbed his finger on your lip. "Can I get a kiss?"

You chuckled with a nod and tilted your head as he did the same. When you started kissing, he pushed you all the way down on the bed and got on top of you. He spread your legs and was right between them to get more comfortable and he touched your thighs as his hands moved toward the hem of your dress to pull it up so he could take it off.

You wanted to finally be intimate with him but that feeling that always stopped you came out. "I can't. I want to but I just can't."

Taehyung stopped touching you and got off to let his feet touch the floor. He sighed and spoke without facing you. "Okay, I'll take you home now."

Deep down, he was fuming because he thought he would finally have sex with you. It was something he was always looking forward to whenever there were signs of it happening but once again, it didn't. 1

Why the fuck is she saying this bullshit again?!

The silence in the room and the way he had his back facing you made you feel bad and you got closer and touched his shoulder. "Taehyung, I'm sorry."

Taehyung pulled his shoulder away because he was extremely disappointed. "I said I'll take you home. Let's go."

Without saying anything to him, you sighed and pulled down your dress then got off the bed.

When he brought you back home, he opened the car door for you, then walked back to the other side and got in. He shut the open one after you got out and completely shocked you when he left without saying anything. You stood still and watched his car until it was out of sight.

He must be really mad because of what happened. Well, I don't blame him. It's my fault. I'll call him after thirty minutes.

For two hours, you constantly called Taehyung but he wasn't picking up your calls so you decided to go back to his house. You knew you didn't have the strongest relationship but you wanted to finally explain everything to him so you could work things out.

You were in for a big shock when you got there. Taehyung was in bed with three girls and everyone was naked. He did not expect to see you at all. You screamed and ran out. He came after you to try and explain things but it was obvious that he had been cheating on you.

As you sprint down the street, your breath is ragged, your heart pounding louder than your footsteps. The image of Taehyung’s betrayal—him with someone else, in his apartment, the place you once called a second home—haunts you with every step. Your chest tightens, each breath feeling like it's choking you. How could he? After everything?

Finally, you slow down, far enough away from his apartment, from that life. The weight of the past few weeks crashes down on you—Jungkook being your new boss, his intense eyes locking onto yours in that suffocating meeting room. And now this. Taehyung, the one you thought would never hurt you, betraying you.

How could he?" you thought bitterly, swallowing the lump in your throat. Your vision blurred, but you kept running, determined to escape the betrayal that felt like a knife twisting in your heart.

Once you were finally far enough, standing in the cold night air with your hands trembling, you stopped. The weight of everything hit you at once. First, Jungkook—your ex, now your boss, in a job you never asked for. And now, this—Taehyung, the one person you trusted, the one who swore to protect you, betraying you in the worst way possible.

Tears welled up in your eyes, but you fought them back. “No, not here. Not now.” You pressed a hand to your forehead, trying to steady your breath, but the pain in your chest wouldn’t go away. Your whole life seemed to be spiraling out of control, and you didn’t know how to stop it.

Leaning against a lamp post, you close your eyes, trying to gather your thoughts.

How could he?" you thought bitterly, swallowing the lump in your throat. Your vision blurred, but you kept running, determined to escape the betrayal that felt like a knife twisting in your heart.

Suddenly, your phone buzzes in your pocket, jolting you back to reality. Taehyung. His name flashes on the screen, and your heart clenches painfully.

“No... no, I can't deal with this right now.”

Without hesitation, you swipe to decline the call. It rings again almost immediately, but this time, your hands tremble as you open the block list and, with one final breath, you add his number.

It’s over.

"It’s over. I’m done," you whispered to yourself, your voice barely audible against the night breeze. “I have nothing to do with him anymore

The words tumble out, though they feel fragile in your throat. The pain inside you is almost unbearable, but you refuse to let it show.

You square your shoulders and straighten your posture, wiping away any traces of tears. "Focus on your work, YN. That’s all that matters now. You don’t need him. You don’t need anyone." You took a deep breath, letting the cold air fill your lungs, and forced yourself to move forward.

“I should focus on my job,” you tell yourself, trying to steady your breathing. “I have to. It's the only thing left that makes sense.”

But deep down, the ache in your heart refused to fade. You were stronger than this, you told yourself. You had to be.
