The early morning light filtered through the curtains of Sarang's new house, casting a soft glow over the peaceful room. Jungkook lay beside Jiwoon, his chest rising and falling with each gentle breath. Jiwoon couldn't help but admire him as he slept, the steady rhythm of his breathing calming her restless heart. His face looked so serene, so free of the worries that always seemed to surround him during the day. It amazed her how he had this effect on her, grounding her in a way no one else ever had.
How did I get so attached to him? Jiwoon thought, tracing her fingers lightly over the soft curve of his jaw. And how will he feel when he finds out…? A pang of fear knotted her stomach. Jiwoon was an undercover officer in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BOC) department, and she knew the dangers of her job all too well. But she also knew one thing for certain—she couldn’t hide her true identity from Jungkook forever. When the right time came, she would tell him everything. She owed him that much.
Suddenly, Jungkook stirred, his eyes fluttering open. A lazy smile spread across his face when he saw Jiwoon watching him. Without a word, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, kissing her forehead tenderly.
“Good morning, beautiful,” he whispered, his voice thick with sleep.
Jiwoon’s heart skipped a beat. “Good morning,” she murmured back, a shy smile tugging at her lips.
Jungkook glanced at the window, a hint of worry crossing his face. “I should go before anyone wakes up. I don’t want them finding us like this,” he said, reluctantly starting to pull away.
But Jiwoon tightened her grip around him, pressing her forehead to his chest. “Stay,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “It’s still early… there’s time before everyone wakes up. Just… stay with me a little longer?”
Jungkook looked down at her, surprised by the vulnerability in her voice. He held her close, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Are you sure?” he asked, his tone softening as he searched her gaze.
Jiwoon nodded, her eyes shimmering with a mix of emotions. “Yes. Just… don’t go yet.”
Jungkook’s expression softened, and he lay back down beside her, pulling her into his embrace. They lay like that, wrapped in each other’s arms, savoring the quiet intimacy of the moment. Jiwoon closed her eyes, letting herself relax against him, feeling safe in his warmth. For a moment, all her worries faded away, and it was just the two of them in their own little world.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Jungkook broke the quiet, his voice barely a whisper. “You know… I don’t get this kind of peace often. Being with you… it makes me feel like I can finally breathe.”
Jiwoon looked up at him, her eyes searching his face. “You deserve peace, Jungkook. More than anyone,” she said softly, her hand resting on his chest. She knew that, eventually, her own secrets might disrupt this fragile calm, but she pushed the thought away, determined to cherish this moment with him.
Jungkook gently pressed his lips to her forehead again, a small smile playing at his lips. “With you, I feel like I have a home. No matter where we are.” His voice softened as he added, “Thank you, Jiwoon.”
Jiwoon’s heart swelled, and she leaned up, brushing her lips against his. “You don’t need to thank me,” she whispered. “Just stay with me… as long as you want.”
And with that, they drifted back into sleep, holding each other close, finding solace in the warmth of each other’s embrace.
Meanwhile Minho's Pov
Minho sits alone in his dimly lit office, his gaze fixed on the numerous files spread across his desk. His fingers drum rhythmically as he processes everything he's learned about Jungkook, the enigmatic figure that Jiwoon seems to have taken an interest in. Every word and detail about Jungkook is etched into his mind, thanks to Yeojun's help in gathering intel. Despite knowing that Jiwoon’s father, Mr. Kang, would disapprove, Minho has resolved to support her, even if it means going against her father’s wishes. Lost in thought, his mind drifts to how far he would go to see Jiwoon happy.
Suddenly, the door swings open, snapping Minho back to reality as Mr. Kang strides into the room, his expression unreadable.
Mr. Kang: without preamble "Where is Jiwoon? Why hasn’t she been coming to headquarters?"
Minho studies Mr. Kang carefully, surprised by the question. He finds it strange that Mr. Kang, who has rarely shown any interest in Jiwoon, is suddenly asking about her whereabouts. Suspicion prickles at Minho's mind as he clears his throat, masking his thoughts.
Minho: calmly, leaning back in his chair "Jiwoon’s working remotely. She has most of her tasks under control and doesn’t need to be here every day. She’ll be here once everything is ready for the mission."
Mr. Kang nods slightly, his eyes narrowing as though he wants to say more but decides against it. He merely grunts in acknowledgment before turning on his heel and leaving the room without another word.
As soon as the door closes, Minho feels the tension ease, but his suspicions deepen. Picking up his phone, he dials a number he knows by heart. The line clicks, and a voice answers on the other end.
Minho: in a low, firm voice "I want daily surveillance on Mr. Kang from now on. Every move he makes, every person he meets—don’t miss a thing."
Voice on the other end: curtly "Understood."
With a sharp nod, Minho ends the call and places the phone back on his desk. He sits back, exhaling slowly, his eyes hardening as he thinks of Jiwoon. Whatever Mr. Kang is up to, Minho intends to uncover it—and if Jiwoon’s happiness is at stake, he’ll stop at nothing to protect her.
End of POV
Meanwhile in Sarang's New House
The morning light filtered through the windows of Sarang’s new home, casting a warm, golden glow over the cozy living room. Taehyung sat on the plush couch, cradling nine-month-old Jihan in his arms, a gentle smile gracing his face as he softly tickled the baby’s belly. Jihan giggled, his tiny hands reaching out to grab at Taehyung’s fingers, and each burst of laughter only made Taehyung’s heart swell more.
Jhope and Jimin were setting the table nearby, chatting as they arranged the plates and cutlery. In the kitchen, Sarang and Yuna were busy preparing breakfast, enjoying the relaxed morning with plenty of time before they needed to open the cafe.
Sarang glanced over her shoulder, “By the way, are Jiwoon and Jungkook still sleeping? I didn’t see them come down yet.”
At that, Jimin’s eyes widened a bit, and he quickly intervened, stepping forward and holding up a hand. “Ah, no, no, don’t worry, Sarang. I’ll go wake Jiwoon up myself. You can just focus on breakfast!” He threw a quick glance at Yuna, silently hoping she’d catch on.
Sensing something strange, Yuna gave Jimin a knowing look and then turned to Sarang. “Actually, I’ll go wake Jinwoon. And, Jimin,” she added with a wink, “why don’t you check on Jungkook?”
Jhope looked between them, raising an eyebrow in confusion. “Wait, why are you both in such a hurry to go upstairs?”
Jimin just laughed nervously, “Ah, no reason, Jhope! Just, you know… gotta make sure they’re awake!”
Jimin and Yuna exchanged a quick glance, sharing a silent laugh as they made their way upstairs to handle the "wake-up mission.” leaving Jhope scratching his head in bewilderment.
J-Hope, watching their antics, scratched his head and muttered to himself, “What are those two up to?”
Sarang, rolling her eyes good-naturedly, handed him a spatula. “I have no idea, but I’m sure they’ll handle it.”
Sarang chuckled, dismissing it with a shrug as She turned back to the stove, the lighthearted atmosphere continuing to fill the air as breakfast neared completion, everyone’s spirits high in the warmth of their new home.
Meanwhile, Taehyung looked down at Jihan, his face full of warmth as Jihan nuzzled his head into Taehyung’s chest, feeling safe and content. Taehyung pressed a gentle kiss to the top of Jihan’s head, his voice soft and full of affection. “Are you having fun, Jihan? You’re such a little cuddler, aren’t you?”
Jihan gurgled, letting out a soft squeal, and Taehyung chuckled, swaying him gently in his arms. He was so absorbed in the moment, he didn’t notice Jhope pulling out his phone and snapping a few pictures from across the room, a wide grin on his face.
“Taehyung, you look like a natural with him,” Jhope commented, a warm smile on his lips as he admired the scene.
Taehyung looked up, smiling back, and shrugged modestly. “Can’t help it. This little guy has me wrapped around his finger,” he said, looking down at Jihan, who responded with another cheerful giggle. “Right, Jihan? You’ve already stolen my heart.”
Jhope laughed, his eyes shining as he snapped a few more pictures. “These are going to be perfect. Just wait till he’s older and see how much you adored him.”
“Good luck with that,” Taehyung jokes. “By then, he’ll probably be too cool to be seen cuddling with his old man.” He chuckled softly, swaying Jihan back and forth as the baby continued to snuggle up to him, oblivious to the world around them.
Just then, Yuna’s voice called down from upstairs, “Breakfast will be ready in five!”
“Perfect timing!” Jhope exclaimed, putting his phone down and moving to help set the last of the table.
Sarang glanced over from the kitchen, catching sight of Taehyung and Jihan and smiling to herself. It felt like a fresh start, with love and laughter filling her home once again. As she brought over a dish to the table, she looked at Taehyung, her eyes warm. “Thank you, Taehyung. You don’t know how much it means to have you here with us.”
Taehyung looked at her, his expression soft. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be, Sarang.” Holding Jihan close, he nodded. “I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.”
Jungkook and Jiwoon 's pov
Jungkook and Jiwoon lay entwined in each other's arms, savoring the quiet intimacy between them.
Jiwoon's head rested gently on Jungkook's chest, her eyes closed in peaceful contentment as his fingers tenderly brushed through her soft hair. Every now and then, he’d place a gentle kiss on the top of her head, savoring the quiet, unspoken closeness between them. Both had been awake for a while, yet neither wanted to break the tranquility by moving or speaking, cherishing the quiet that seemed to blanket them in a world of their own.
Just as Jungkook opened his mouth to say something, a knock at the door startled them. They froze, their hearts quickening in sync as they exchanged a quick, uncertain glance. But as Jimin’s familiar voice called out from the hallway, they relaxed instantly. Jungkook smiled reassuringly at Jiwoon.
“Don’t worry,” he whispered, brushing his thumb over her cheek. “Jimin knows everything, and Yuna does too. They’re happy for us.”
Jiwoon smiled, feeling a sense of relief. The knowledge that their friends knew and supported their relationship was a comfort. They both quickly got up, and Jungkook went to open the door revealing Jimin and Yuna standing there with playful smiles.
“Good morning, lovebirds!” Jimin greeted them with a grin.
As he pulled it open, Jimin and Yuna entered with wide, teasing grins on their faces. Yuna raised an eyebrow at Jiwoon, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Jiwoon, unable to hide her blush, shifted awkwardly, only for Yuna to break into laughter and pull her into a tight hug.
Jiwoon hugged her back, the awkwardness melting away. Yuna whispered, “You don’t have to say anything, Jiwoon. It’s normal, and honestly, you two look wonderful together.” Pulling back, she added, “Take your time before telling anyone else. Jimin and I have got your back, right, Jimin?”
Jimin, still smiling, nodded. “Of course. Whatever my princess wants,” he said, earning a playful nudge from Yuna.
Jiwoon finally laughed, feeling grateful Yuna then clapped her hands and said, “Alright! Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes. Freshen up, and we can all head to the cafe together.”
Jungkook scratched his head sheepishly as Jimin and Yuna left the room, leaving him and Jiwoon alone again. He leaned down, kissed her forehead, and whispered, “I’ll see you in a bit.” Then he slipped out to freshen up in another room.
Once they left, Jiwoon let out a deep breath, feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves. She glanced at herself in the mirror, preparing for her morning routine as thoughts of Jungkook lingered in her mind. She knew that she needed to share everything with him—the truth of her past and the secrets she held. It was daunting, but she trusted him and wanted him to know her fully.
As she splashed cool water on her face, she thought of what to say, rehearsing in her mind. She’d tell him soon, about everything she hadn’t yet revealed—the parts of her story that explained so much of who she was and why she had held back until now.
A soft smile formed on her lips. She had no idea how he would respond, but seeing the tenderness in his eyes this morning, she felt hopeful. Whatever happened, she was ready. For once in her life, Jiwoon felt like she could trust someone with her entire heart.
Few minutes later
A while later, Jungkook knocked softly on her door. Jiwoon, ready now, opened it and smiled. “Are you sure you’re ready for breakfast with Jimin and Yuna?” he teased.
Jiwoon smiled but grew serious, stepping closer. “Jungkook, there’s… something I want to talk to you about first.”
He reached for her hand, concern in his eyes. “Whatever it is, you can tell me, Jiwoon. I’m here for you.”
She took a steadying breath. “I’ve wanted to tell you everything about my past, about… parts of me I’ve kept hidden.”
Jungkook held her gaze. “Jiwoon, whatever you need to say, it won’t change how I feel. You’re safe with me.”
Jiwoon smiled, comforted by his words, and began. “There are things I’ve been involved in, things that might surprise you. But I need you to know them, to understand me fully.”
He gently squeezed her hand. “Then tell me whenever you want . Let’s face it together.”
And one more thing ,
Jungkook gently tucked a strand of Jiwoon’s hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering for a moment as he studied her face. Her eyes, deep and expressive, held a flicker of doubt beneath the trust he knew she had in him. Sensing her unspoken fears, he brought his hands to cup her face, his thumbs brushing gently across her cheeks.
“Jiwoon,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper but carrying a depth of emotion that made her heart race. “No matter what happens… no matter what anyone says or what challenges come our way, I will always be with you. I need you to know that.”
A gentle smile softened Jiwoon’s features, and she reached up, covering his hands with hers as she held his gaze. “I know, Jungkook,” she replied, her voice steady and warm, radiating the quiet strength he admired so much. “I trust you… and I’ll always stand by you. Even if the world is against us, I’ll be there with you.”
Jungkook leaned in closer, his eyes never leaving hers as he slowly closed the distance. Their lips met in a soft, lingering kiss, one that spoke of both passion and an unbreakable bond. The kiss was gentle but held an intensity that made her feel as though time had stopped, like the entire universe was just the two of them in this one precious moment.
Pulling away slightly, he kept his forehead pressed against hers, his breaths mingling with hers as they stood, savoring the closeness.
“You’re not just someone I love, Jiwoon,” he whispered, his voice laced with vulnerability. “You’re my peace, my strength. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Her hands tightened around his, a look of fierce determination flashing in her eyes. “And you’re my home, Jungkook. Whatever comes our way, we face it together. I want you to know I’ll always believe in you. No amount of darkness will change that.”
He pulled her into a warm embrace, his arms wrapping securely around her as though shielding her from any harm that might come their way . As they held each other in a quiet understanding that words alone could never capture. For this moment, they were each other’s world, and they knew that together, they could face anything.
Jungkook gently pulled back from the embrace, his fingers lingering on Jiwoon’s shoulders for a moment. He gave her a soft smile, his eyes reflecting the warmth of their quiet, shared moment.
“Come on,” he said, his voice tender yet cheerful. “Everyone’s probably waiting for us downstairs.”
Jiwoon nodded, her expression calm yet glowing with affection. They walked side by side down the staircase, their footsteps in harmony, carrying a quiet confidence born from their bond. As they reached the last few steps, the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries greeted them.
Downstairs, Sarang, Yuna, Jimin, Taehyung, and J-Hope were gathered around the dining table, their laughter filling the room with a relaxed and comforting warmth. Sarang glanced up first, her gaze shifting between Jungkook and Jiwoon, a knowing smile forming on her lips. Yuna, seated next to her, nudged Jimin playfully, drawing his attention to the pair.
“There they are,” Taehyung remarked with a grin, setting his coffee cup down as Jungkook and Jiwoon approached. “We were beginning to wonder if you two planned on sleeping the whole day away.”
Jungkook chuckled, pulling out a chair for Jiwoon before taking his own seat. “Just making sure we start the day right,” he replied, his eyes glancing at Jiwoon, the warmth in his gaze not going unnoticed by anyone at the table.
Jimin leaned back in his chair, a teasing smirk on his face. “Well, you definitely look like you’ve had a good morning,” he commented, earning a playful eye-roll from Jungkook. J-Hope laughed, joining in with an exaggerated nod.
“Alright, enough teasing,” Yuna chimed in, a soft smile on her face as she passed a plate of pastries down the table. “Let’s eat before the food gets cold.”
Jiwoon blushed slightly but quickly relaxed as Sarang handed her a warm cup of tea, a reassuring smile on her face, her eyes filled with kindness. “It’s nice to have everyone together.”
The group settled into a comfortable rhythm, laughter and conversation flowing naturally around the table. Jungkook leaned toward Jiwoon, his hand resting on her arm as he murmured, “This is what makes it all worth it, doesn’t it?”
She looked around the table, taking in the easy companionship and warmth that filled the room, and nodded, her heart swelling with a quiet joy. “Yes, it does,” she whispered back, her fingers gently inter
twining with him under the table. And for that peaceful morning, surrounded by people who cared for each other, they felt like they had everything they needed.
